After making the Battle Pods game I thought of combining the vending machine pods with the concept of inherited traits.
I’m picturing an installation where visitors can choose from a group of six or so pods (each containing a unique creature) and pair them up by placing two pods into the mating bays. Each creature will have a set of characteristics that can be passed on to their offspring (color, size, etc.). Some traits will be dominant and some recessive. When two pods are mated a third pod (the child) will tumble down a chute. The visitor can then choose to either keep their pod as a souvenir, or place it in the mating bay to create an entirely new creature.
The main problem with actually making this installation would be that I would have to create every possible permutation ahead of time and store them in the machine. So, it’s probably not possible.
